a. Note:   l. 3. "Died. At West Mendon, Mr. John Scrambling aged 66 years." From Rochester Republican, Rochester, NY. Tues. 8-09-1831 Page 3; Col. 7. "The People of the State of New York, by the Grace of God, free and independent. To all whom these presents shall or may concern, and especially to the widow and next of kin of John Schrambling, late of the town of Mendon, in the county of Monroe, deceased, send greeting. You and each of you are hereby cited and required personally to be and appear at my office in the village of Pittsford, before me, Monroe F. Delano, Surrogate of the city of Monroe, on Monday the twenty-ninth day of August next ensuing at 10 o'clock in the forenoon of that day, to show cause, if any you have, why the last will and testament of John Scrambling, late of Mendon, should not be admitted to probate, and letters testamentary thereon granted to the executor named therein, and hereof fail not-- And it is ordered that a copy of this citation be published once in each week for two successive weeks in the newspaper printed at Rochester, in said county, called the Rochester Republican. In testimony whereof, I the said Surrogate have hereunto set my hand and affixed the seal of my office at Pittsford, this thirtieth day of June, in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty-one.
