I am the Town of Mendon NY Historian. I have been going through my files this winter trying to get some of my early settlers in as good an order as possible. I have pretty much figured out that Zebulon, although he was considered our earliest settler in Norton’s Mills (now Honeoye Falls), he probably lived in the Town of Lima, just south a couple of miles. That has been an eye opener. I thought you might like a correction for your records. Zebulon Norton’s daughter, Huldah, married John Scrambling. In your entry you stated that John and Huldah Norton Scrambling were both born in Honeoye Falls. Actually, there was no Honeoye Falls until after 1791. I believe that these folks came here from Otsego, Montgomery County, NY so perhaps some of them were born there or even in CT. Anyway maybe that gives you something else to figure out. I keep as many records as possible in my files after they came here, but it is always interesting to learn where they came from and also where they went on from here. I have Cemetery Records, some Tax Assessments, early Histories of Monroe County, etc. Hope this information is helpful. Diane Ham Mendon Town Historian
