Notes
a. Note:   logical Pub. Co., Inc., Baltimore 1986. Page 129. "A blacksmith, Johannes emigrated from Bleichenback Hannau Germany to New York in 1710 and was on the NY Palatine subsistence list in 1710. He was naturalized at Albany, NY Jan. 17, 1716 and in 1723 got Burnetsfield lot #31." From: The Hess Family of the Mohawk Valley, Pub. in The Enterprise & News, St. Johnsville. Compiled by Hubert W. Hess, Aug. 1928-1930. "He (Johnnes Hess Sr.) came to this country with other Palatines under the promise of land in Schoharie and landed in New York, June 14, 1710." It is likely that his brother was Nicholas Hess. In Kocherthal Records in the magazine "Olde Ulster" at West Camp on the Hudson....the marriage records gives that on August 28, 1711 Johnnes Hess, a blacksmith of Bleichenback in the Duchy of Hanau and Anna Catherina daughter of "Rudolph" Curring of Hellstein Duch of Isenberg, were married at West Camp on the Hudson." Note: "Johnnes Hess Sr. did go from West Camp on the Hudson to Schoharie and from there in the Burnettsfield Patent on the Mohawk River, viz., The Kocherthal records give born, March 25, 1717 and baptized June 7, 1717 'at Schorarie' Catherine..........(I don't have the rest of this page, but the information is contained later with a listing of all births of children.) "Records show that Johnnes Hess Sr. and his descendants for at least three generations were among the leaders of at least in church affairs at the German Flats Fort Herkimer Church. The old Palatine Church, as well as the old church at South Columbia." The Kocherthal records in the Magazine "Olde Ulster" show that Johnnes Hess Sr. and Anna Catherine, his wife had the following children viz. (see family group sheets). From: Olde Vlster/Ulster An Historical & Genealogical Magazine, Kingston, NY, Vol. 3, 1907 The Kocherthal Records on Page 380--"August 29 JOHANN HESS, a blacksmith, of Bleichenbach in the duchy of Hanau, and ANNA CATHARINA, daughter of RUDOLF CURRING of Hellstein, duchy of Isenburg."
