Note: Keith Griswold to barbaratrees4u (July 20, 2011) Just happened to find your blog while looking for Killingworth. Seems I have many ancestors born, married and died there. It starts with Edward Griswold, b. 1607 Kenilworth, Warkwickshire, England. Immigrated to New London Ct. in 1639. His son John was born in Windsor Ct., married Bathsheba North and died 1717 in Killingworth. Their son Joseph b.1691 in Killingworth married Temperance Lay (his fourth wife) and had children, John, Joseph (direct descendant) b. Killingworth 1716 m. Lydia Farnum, Nathan,Giles, Daniel, Jebediah. Joseph's children Gilbert,Elisha,Stephan and Ashel (direct descendant). Stephan and Ashel were twins b. 1768. I appears that several of these given and family names are on your blog. I have never been to Ct. We have only missed four states east of the mighty Mississippi and Ct. is one of them. My family tree moved slowly west to Michigan. I enjoyed reading your blog. ----- Hi Keith, Thank you for writing and I'm happy you found my blog. A few things to mention, we also share the LAY line, your Temperance is the dau. of Robert Lay and Mary Stanton, my direct lines. Any of the surnames in All Caps in my reports are my directs. I added the names you gave me, and I thank you very much. However, I am stuck with your line, "Joseph's children Gilbert, Elisha, Stephan and Ashel....were these children of the 2nd Joseph, I am assuming they were? You haven't been to Connecticut, well to tell you the truth, I try to avoid it. A small state, with heavy traffic and lots of people. I live in Massachusetts, but was born in Connecticut. I also have ancestors in Michigan (if you look at the right side tab under Location: Michigan). I gather you live in Michigan? Could you tell me the county? I am now spending way too much time correcting location sources, making them consistent, like Connecticut for CT or spelling it wrong! Looking forward in hearing back from you. Barbara ----- I have Robert Lay and Mary Stanton as parents of Temperance but I have no information about them. Yes, Gilbert, Elisha, Stephan and Ashel were sons of the second Joseph. I also had an uncle named Gilbert. My grandparents named their children after ancestors. Stephan and Ashel were twins b. Jan 24, 1768. We live in the central pare of the state. b. Clinton Co. Live now in Shiawassee Co. (about 10 miles from birth site) and also lived in Ingham Co. Any information that I have that can help you will be a welcome gift. ----
