(Obtained from Evanston Historical Society.) August 27, 1957 "Clarence Frederic Poole, 65, of 2741 Eastwood Avenue, died Sunday in Evanston Hospital. Mr. Poole had just moved to the Eastwood Avenue address after living three years at 2517 Central Street. Previously he lived 30 years at 1319 Greenwood Street. A native Evanstonian, Mr. Poole was a patent lawyer with Parker and Carter in Chicago. He served several years on the patent law committee of the National Association of Manufacturers and in 1954 was president of the Chicago Patent Law Association. He attended the old Lincoln school at Main Street and Forest Avenue, and Evanston High School and was a graduate of the University of Michigan and the Northwestern law school. He was a member of Sigma Phi, which he joined at Michigan, Westmoreland Country Club and the University Club of Chicago. Surviving are his wife, Marie Stephenson Poole; two children, John Adams Poole of Lexington, Mass., and Mrs. Judith Goff of Northbrook; two step-children, Mrs. Lynn Carver, 1834 Asbury Avenue, and William H. Stephenson of Santa Barbara, Cal.; one sister Mrs. Edward H. Ludlow of Winnetka, and seven grandchildren. Services were Wednesday afternoon in St. Mark's Episcopal church, with Dr. Paul Elmen officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park." _____________ Wedding Announcement dated July 15, 1954. Clarence Poole Weds Former Evanstonian at Santa Barbara Clarence Frederick Poole, 2517 Central Street, and Mrs. Marie Hinchey Stephenson, formerly of Evanston, were married June 30 at All-Saints-by-the-Sea in Santa Barbara. The bride was given in marriage by her son, William Henry Stephenson II, a student at the University of California. He also acted as best man. Rosanne Lynn Stephenson, Mrs. Stephenson's daughter, was the only bridal attendant. She is a 1953 graduate of Northwestern. Mrs. Stephenson, wife of the late Samuel G. Stephenson of Evanston, was active in the Woman's Club of Evanston, the Evanston Drama club, P.T.A. work and the Evanston Children's theater. She is a member of the Northwestern alumnae chapter of Zeta Phi Eta, national speech fraternity. Mr. Poole, a patent lawyer with the firm of Parker and Carter, Chicago, is president of the Chicago Patent Law Association and has been active in committee work for the American Bar Association. After a reception at the bride's home, at which many Evanstonians were present, Mr. and Mrs. Poole left for a wedding trip which will bring them back to Evanston about Aug. 1. They will live at 2517 Central Street. Note: Following was a list of those attending from Evanston.
