Note: on of William Stannard and Mercy Wright. He is almost certainly a descendant of the first Joseph Stannard of Haddam and Saybrook. If he was, in fact, born around 1712, he could not have been a child of the second Joseph Stannard, since Joseph was deceased and his widow, Hannah (Brackett), was remarried to Andrew Warner 04 April 1706. John Stannard married in 1717 and there is no indication of an earlier wife. That leaves Samuel and William as potential fathers; Samuel had a child 24 March 1712/3. Either William or Samuel is a possibility with William seeming slightly more probable than Samuel if for no other reason that Lemuel named a son William but did not name one Samuel."
