a. Note:   Listed with his mother in 1880 Census - Many, Sabine Parish, LA. Grew up in Bayou Scie community. Family sold farm so he could go to the University of Louisville Medical School, where he graduated in 1889. Went to Marthaville where he met and married Clara. In 1903 moved to Natchitoches. In 1908 moved to Gappes Bluff on 1100 acre farm and continued to practice. After several moves, in 1920 moved to Washington to practice and had a drug store. Bought a home and 160 acres in Washington near LeBeau. Flectcher William Eliza Truly, Physician and Surgeon, Marthaville, LA, Aug. 10, 1902, to Jeff Truly, Fayette, MS. Dearest Friend: Yours of the 7th to hand. Yes, I am the son of Dr. Fletcher Truly and my fathers father was Bennet Richard Truly. He died at the age of 67 - 1865 of pneumonia and his and fathers remains lie near Many, LA, in a country grave yard in Sabine Parish. My father died in 1862 the year I was born. I don't know what part of Miss. He came from. I have one uncle William Pinckney Truly who lives in Eastland, Texas. If you will write to him you can find out where they came from. I will write to him and let you know later. My father died in 62 leaving 3 children and a widow.. 2 boys and one girl. My brother died at the age of 19 in 1878. My sister married and died at the age of 45, 1902 leaving 3 children. These names Dewitt B. Pullen, age 24. Miss Berta Pullen, age 25. John Fletcher Truly Pullen, age 8. The are living at this place. I married a Miss Clara E. McPherson of Longview, Tex. in 1890. We have six children.. 4 boys and 2 girls and these names are; Roy Emmons Truly, age 10, Harry Lydmore Truly, age 8, Fannie Kate Truly, age 7, Tom Fletcher Truly, age 5, Arlett Truly, age 3, Hamblin Truly, age 1. My mother is yet living 67 years and is very active. I have often heard of her speak of Jas. Truly of Miss. He would visit the family in 1864�66 a cousin of my fathers. I am the only Truly that lives in Louisiana that I know of. All the rest of the family went to Texas soon after grandfather died. I understand they all have large family and are doing well. W.P. Truly family live at Eastland, Texas. Dr. Camp Truly died at (illeg) La. And his family moved to Ballinger, Texas.. 2 boys.. Pink Truly and R.B. Truly. Bennett Truly the youngest of my uncles I think is dead.. his family lives in Hubbard City, Texas, 3 boys Hamblin Truly, John Truly, and George Truly. My father only had one sister.. she married Dr. John Wagley. They moved to Cleburne, Texas.. she died 15 or 20 years ago leaving 5 children and they live at the same place. Dr. Wagley is also dead years. There was another sister of fathers.. she married man by the name of Antony in New Orleans before the war she died soon after she married leaving no children. This is all I know of the Truly family. They all came from Miss. I can tell you more when I hear from my uncle W.P. Truly of Eastland that is if he is living. I have not heard from him in a long time. Hoping this will give you an idea of how our family are connected and that you will send me one of your records of your family and we will get in touch of each other. If it is so you can we would be proud to have you and family to visit us. This summer or fall I would be glad to get acquainted with you and possibility I could interest you in some of LA industries.
