Return of Birth for Branchburg Township, NJ Sept. 1876-Sept. 1877 shows birth date as January 23, 1877. SOURCE: Records of Jacqueline Wells Lubinski SOURCE: THE DORLAND FAMILY IN AMERICA, John Dorland Cremer, 1898, Washington, D. C., Byron S. Adams, publisher, p. 202. Listed as "Annie O. Durling" Death of Mrs. Harry J. Wells Anna C., wife of Harry J. Wells, of this place, passed away at Muhlenberg Hospital, Plainfield, on Monday night, following a surgical operation. Mrs. Wells had been in failing health for several months past, because of complications, the start on the downward course being noticed soon after the fire at her father's home in this place, last winter, when she contracted a cold which could not be shaken off. Her condition was such on Monday afternoon that she was taken to Muhlenberg Hospital, in the Bolmer ambulance. Mrs. Wells was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Durling of this place, and was 37 years of age. Besides a husband she leaves six children, two girls and four boys. Funeral services conducted by Rev. Harold E. Green, were held yesterday afternoon, at 2:30 o'clock, at the home of her parents on Washington Street and interment was made in the Bound Brook Cemetery by Director Egerton. SOURCE: Obit from the "Bound Brook Chronicle", Friday, August 7, 1914. Copy held by grandaughter Jacqueline Wells Lubinski. Card of Thanks For myself and children I desire to express thanks to kind neighbors and friends for sympathy and assistance rendered in our affliction. Harry J. Wells SOURCE: "Thank You" notice placed in "Bound Brook Chronicle", Friday, August 7, 1914 on same page as obit of wife Anna Durling Wells. Copy held by grandaughter Jacqueline Wells Lubinski NOTE: The "surgical operation" I believe was an emergency cesarian to save her last child. There is a stillborn Wells baby buried in the Bound Brook Cemetery with the date of death as August 3, 1914 - the same date as mother Anna Durling Wells. Although it was told to me that she died of pneumonia, I believe that she died of pregnancy related toxemia, as her daughter Mary was born weighing 14 pounds and a daughter Gertrude Ann (Wells) Clewley died in childbirth of the same disease.
