Hipple). Hipple). Daughter Lusetta Hipple and her son Harry Wells, born 1868, are not listed. Obit for James Hipple: Montgomery Ledger Newspaper 3/25/1879 edition (Tuesday) "James HIPPLE, a well known resident of East Coventry, died on Wednesday evening, after a lingering illness, during which he suffered with paralysis and neuralgia. For forty years deceased was engaged in the auctioneering business. He was about 70 years of age and the father of B. Frank Hipple of Pottstown, and A J Hipple of Pottstown Landing." Obit: Daily Pottstown Ledger Newspaper 3/25/1879 The funeral of James Hipple, of East Coventry Township, Chester Township, took place on Monday morning, the 24th inst., from his residence, near Lawrenceville. The deceased was 69 yrs., 10 mos., 4 days. He was known far and near as an auctioneer, and as a worthy, upright citizen. All the children were present with the exception of one daughter from Ohio. Several persons from Pottstown and vicinity, where Mr. Hipple was well known, attended the funeral. The sermon on the occasion was preached by Rev. J. Neff of Spring City and Rev. M. S. Rowland, of East Vincent assisted in the solemn services of the occasion. Mr. Hipple was the father of Mr. B. F. Hipple, of the east ward of this borough. Will of James Hipple (handwritten): I, James Hipple, of the City of Philadelphia in the State of Pennsylvania, being of sound mind, memory, and understanding, do make and publish this, my last will and testament, hereby revokeing and makeing void all former wills by me at any time heretofore, made, as to such estate as it hath pleased God to entrust with me. I dispose of as follows to wit: First--I direct that all my property, real and personal be sold by my Executors hereafter named, as soon after my decease as may be convenient. at either public or private sale, as they may think best and to effect this, my intention. I do hereby vest in them (my executors) full power and authority to dispose of the same in fee simple, in as full a manner in ever respect, as I could myself do if living. Second--I give and bequeth unto my beloved wife Susan Hipple the Interest of Two Thousand Dollans dureing her natural life time in addition to the three hundred Dollars allowed by law, and what she may receive from the Mechanics Funeral Benefit Association, and order, to hold absolutely in lien of her dowery in my Estate. Third--I order my Executors to pay out of my Estate to my grandson Henry E. Christman when he is twenty one years of age, the sum of Three Hundred and Fifty Dollars without interest which I have in hand for him. Fourth--After all my debts and funeral expences are paid and the bequest and payment aforesaid, the remainder of my Estate, I give and bequeth to my children viz. B. F. Hipple, Sarah A. Hipple intermarried with William Thompson, Elmira Hipple intermarried with Lewis Shifely, Faithfull Hipple intermarried with Peter Yeager, A. J. Hipple, Mary Jane Hipple intermarried with Joseph Heebner, Elizabeth Hipple, Lusetta Hipple, and Emma Hipple, share and share alike (equal shares) except Emma is to have one hundred Dollars more than any of the others, and Sarah is to have only the Interest of the share comeing to her, and after her death the principal to go and belong to her son Henry E. Christman. Fifth--I appoint my son in law Joseph Heebner to be a trustee to take charge of my daughter Sarah's share, pay her the interest annually dureing her life time, and after her decease to pay the principal to her son Henry E. Christman as directed. But in case said Henry E. Christman should die before his mother, Sarah, without leaving any legal heirs, then in that case said share at the death of Sarah should be equally divided between the sisters and brothers of Sarah or their legal heirs or as assigned by said trustee. Sixth--I appoint my sons B. F. Hipple and A. J. Hipple trustees to take care of the two thousand Dollars bequeathed to my wife Susanna in liew of her dower, pay her the Interest annually and regularly, and at the decease of my wife, to pay or divide said two thousand Dollars equally between the legal heirs or children above named or their legal representatives. Except in Sarah's case, which is to go to her trustee to be disposed of the same as her first portion of my estate, and I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons B. F. Hipple and A. J. Hipple Executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I, James Hipple, the testator, have to this, my will, written, on one sheet of paper, set my hand and seal this twentieth day of May, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Seventy five, AD 1875. Signed, Sealed, published and declared by the above named James Hipple as for his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who have James Hipple (signed) hereunto subscribed our names at his request as witnessed hereto, in the presence of the testator of each other David Y. Custer Enos L. Prizer Note: No mention is made in the will of James Hipple of his grandson Harry James Wells--the son of James's daughter Lusetta Hipple. As of the date of the will-May 20, 1875-there is no mention of a spouse or marriage for Lusetta or mention of her son Harry James Wells. She is listed in the will as Lusetta Hipple. Her son Harry James Wells would have been about 7 years old at that time. At the date of death of James Hipple on March 19, 1879 and the proving of the will on April 12, 1879 there is no addition to the will mentioning a marriage, date of death, or any new information on Lusetta Hipple or still any mention of grandson Harry James Wells. Grandson Harry Wells shows up in the 1880 census living with James's widow Susannah Hipple, listed as "grandson", along with grandson Henry E. Christman but Lusetta is not listed nor was she listed in the 1870 census with James and Susannah Fisher Hipple. James Hipple resided on Bethel Church Road at the intersection of Kolb Road, East Coventry, Chester Co., Pennsylvania. The house was still there as of 4/2011.
