Listed on the 1870 Federal Census for East Amwell Township, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, page 41, line 27, age 17, occupation keeping house, with husband Charles Cray, occupation farm laborer, daughter Martha age 3 months old., and a William Withington, age 11 unknown relationship. They are all listed as Black. Living next door listed on line #24 is Ann's grandmother Elizabeth (unknown) Stives age 88, Ann's father William Stives age 52 occupation shoemaker, and Williams brother Jonathan age 42 occupation farm laborer. This census is supposition proof of parentage of Ann as a "Stives", the daughter of William, granddaughter of Elizabeth and Cornelius D. Stives, as her 3 month old daughter Martha is listed in the 1880 census as a 10 year old grandaughter of William Stives--son of Cornelius D. and Elizabeth Stives. ---------- Listed on the 1880 Federal Census for East Amwell, Hunterdon County, New Jersey, Page 25, Supervisors District 2, Enumeration District 67, age 30, occupation keeping house, with husband Charles Cray age 37, occupation laborer, and children Allisann age 8 , James age 6, Lenard M. age 3, and Randal W. age 1. Charles Cray is listed as White, wife Ann is listed as Black, children Allisann, James, and Randal W. are listed as White, Lenard M. is listed as Black. Living next door is Ann's father William Stives age 50 (2 years younger than 1870 census) occupation Shoemaker, with his mother Elizabeth (Ann's Grandmother) age 90, brother Jonathan age 40 (2 years younger than 1870 census) occupation farm laborer, and granddaughter M.
