On page 85 of "New Jersey's Sourland Mountain", by T. J. Luce is stated "So wrote C. W. Larison in 1883 (PR 1980). Locals sometimes called mulatto children Wyndotts(=wyandottes), a breed of chicken with black and white feathers, and sometimes Minniedotts, in reference to Minnietown. F. T. Skillman ("Mountain Grove School") reports this: "Charlie Cray married what was called a colored woman and when taken to task by his people said: 'There is nothing worth looking at on the Mountain but Minne-niggers and Wyckoffs and of the two the former is far the better."
