Note: Trade was a Cotton Spinner wife unknown at this time SOURCE: R.J. Dales 2102 Old Fort Dr. Tallahassee, Fl. 32301, 1986 In addition, as the researched family tree goes back beyond the year 1752, you should note that at that date the calendar as we know it, changed. Up until 1751, England used the Julian Calendar which was 11 days out of step, with the Gregorian Calendar, which had been adopted in Europe in 1582 and in Scotland in 1600. Therefore an Act of Parliament was passed, which stated that 1st January should be the first day of the year, as until then, 25th March had been the first day of the year. 1751 commenced on March 25th 1751 and ended on December 31st 1751. 1752 commenced on 1st January 1752 and ended on December 31st 1752, however, 11 days of September were omitted to bring it into line with the Gregorian Calendar. For example, you will see in researched family histories that 2nd February 1692, is now usually referred to as 2nd February 1692/3. Joseph PHILLIP..... Not PHILLIPS From Micleal Horsman Mar 01, 2018 Hi Don, my name is Michael Horsman, I'm from Skipton in Yorkshire, England, near Embsay, where our common ancestor (my 6th great g'father) Thomas Phillip was born. It seems that someone added an s to make your branch into Phillips, but I'm pretty confident it's the same family. My 3rd great g'mother Sarah Phillips must have told her son Thomas about her cousins emigrating to Canada and he must have told his son Herbert, who told his son Fred, who told my uncle Derek who told me. By then it was only a vague story, but it seems it was true! Would you mind sharing your tree with me? My E Mail address is [email protected] and I'll do the same if you're ok with that. It's lovely to make contact with you, hope to hear from you soon. Regards Michael Compiled by Don Outram 13012 CR 503 Tory Hill Ontario Canada 2007 [email protected] |
