Source: 1880 U.S. Census, Ohio, Lucas County, Richfield District, Page 4C. Pioneer of Lucas County, Ohio, USA. Died at his residence in Raab, Ohio, USA, in Richfield Township. At the age of six he came to the United States with his parents who settled first in Richfield Township. Built a log house in 1858 a quarter of a mile west of the Langenderfer Rd near Raab's Corners, OH, USA. The cabin was of big oak logs hewned on the inside but left pretty much with only the trade marks of nature on the outside. The floor was two inches of oak planks. It had four rooms including an attic into which snow drifted through the chinks in winter and left a white coating over beds and floors, marked by footprints in the morning. The roof was of hand-made oak shingles. The family lived in it for 45 yeras, farming 70 acres which he bought for $1.50/acre in Section 27 in 1920.
