In 1920 Susan lived alone in Sheridan Township, Linn Co., KS (page 3). Obituary, "Pleasanton Observer Enterprise," 23 Sept 1920: "Susan C. Todd was born in Carroll county, Maryland March 8, 1833 and departed this life at her home in Prescott Sept. 12, 1920, aged 77 years, 6 months and 4 days. She removed with her parents to Lafayette, Illinois in her girlhood, and was there united in marriage to Harry C. Johnson Sept. 12, 1861. To his union were born three sons and four daughters. Her husband and two daughters had preceeded her to heaven, leaving three sons, Lewis Johnson, of Centerville, Clede Johnson, of Henyetta, Oklahoma, and Ernest Johnson of Prescott, and two daughters, Mrs. Essie Carpenten, of Denver, Colorado and Mrs. Gladys Johnson of Garland, Kansas; one brother, B. M. Todd, of Edmond, Okla; two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Thompson of LaFayette, Ill, and Martha Crowl of Prescott, Kansas, 21 grandchildren and a host of friends to mourn her departure. She was converted and united with the M. E. church in girlhood, and was one of the most loyal, earnest christians to her last concious hour. Her husband answered the call of the nation in the dark hours of the civil war, and she loyally sent him forth to its service while she remained at home with her little child to pray and keep the home fire burning. A quater of a century ago she came with her husband and family to the homestead north of Prescott, and ten years ago, on account of the failing health of her husband, they removed to the little home in Prescott where, on the Sabbath evening just as the chruch bells were ringing for the everning service, she went forth to answer the call to the higher service in heaven. A devoted, loving wife and mother, a loyal friend, a neighbor, always busy and cheerful, Earth is poorer and heaven is richer by her departure. The funeral services were held at the M.E. church, Sept 16th, and were conducted by her pastor, R. J. W. Mosslander, assisted by the choir. Her body was laid to rest beside her husband in the Prescott cemetery." In the same paper as the obituary: "The sale of the Johnson property was well attended and most of the things brought very good prices. Col. Harry Henson improves with every sale. Robert Schooley bourght the residence at $3100 and Mrs James Ham the smaller house at $610."
