Note: “Stockton Record” Obituary: George W. Koons was born in Phillips County, Kansas, near Bow Creek on January 27, 1900 and died at his home in Stockton April 5, 1921, aged 21 years, 2 months, and 8 days. When four years old the family moved from Phillips County and since that time they have lived mostly in the Bow Creek country. George has always been an industrious upright boy and leaves to mourn to his loss Mr. and Mrs. Milton Koons of this city, six brothers Arthur of Woodston, Walter of Phillips County, Bert, Hobart, Jesse, and Glen of Stockton, Mrs. Verna Atkison and Mrs. Osie Hawks of Osborne, Mrs. Sylvia Thomas of Woodston, and Miss Flo of Woodston, all of whom were at the bedside during the last few days of his illness. On Sunday, March 22, George contracted the measles and from that day gradually grew worse, contracting pneumonia and acute nephritis which caused his death. While the best of physicians were called and all possible was done to relieve his suffering it was without avail. The funeral services were conducted Thursday afternoon from the Saylor school house on Bow Creek Conducted by Rev. R. D. Thrasher and interment was made at Bow Creek Cemetery.
