5. Title:   Personal Knowledge
Page:   Wrote to Susie 5/18/2018 to ask why Doc and his wife left Connecticut. "Grandfahter "Doc" Holloway left Connecticut as a young adult because his family decided when he was born that he would be a doctor, even giving him the nickname "Docie." Strange, because generation s of Holloway men were mariners... ships, captains or ships carpenters. So when he graduated high school much pressure was put on him by his family to get in to med school. He wasn't having any part of that so he literally left home with no prospects. Somewhere in his travels he got a job with a road construction company building some of the very first roads in the US to accommodate automobiles. He moved frequently, met Grandmother Holloway in Illinois, married her and had my father. They had a very nomadic life going wherever the road construction took them until Dad was to start high school. Doc heard about a job with the Washington State Highway department in Olympia and was hired. The rest is history. Doc never went back to Connecticut except to take Grandma there to have Dad. He wanted her to have good doctors and not have her baby in the middle of nowhere. It was a good thing he did because it was a very difficult birth for her." via text.
