Notes
a. Note:   Living in his household at the time of the 1850 census was Augusta Bass, female, age 9 b PA. Possible sister of Maria? Also in the household was Marvin Lake, 23 b NY, farmer - probable relative of David. In the 1860 census he had his wife and 5 living children in the household - no others enumerated with him. Living in his household in 1880 was his mother-in-law Polly Gardner, 86 b Conn, his brother Alfred and a domestic servant Julia McVey, 21 b PA, parents both b Ireland. Living adjacent in the household of Alfred C. Smith, 44 b NY, wagonmaker, was Warren Lake, 53 b NY, parents both b NY, speculator, brother of David and son of Aaron. Living in the same block was Lorenzo Lake, 53 b NY, parents both b NY - probable relative, but pob of parents not CT, so doubtful that he is a son of Aaron unless the pob is in error. Update from Find A Grave: Lorenzo, b 1827 in Greene Co., NY, was the son of Botsford Lake. He served in the Civil War and was held at Andersonville. He was permanently maimed in the war. Botsford Lake was a farmer in Greene County, NY and possible relative of Aaron Lake. He and Maria and their children Albert Clark and Clara Rebecca are buried together in Wheeler Hill Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Wayne County, PA. (ref Find a Grave, photos of grave markers are provided) His photograph and that of is wife Maria are included in The lake Family Chronicles.
