Note: In the 1870 census of Benton County, IA he was a farmer, single. His mother Ann lived in his household. They were still there in 1880 and had some land records. His death is recorded in the Armed Forces Grave Registrations as 22 Oct 1888 at Polk, IA. It gives his dob as 12 July 1827, which is a slight discrepancy with his date of Christening in England.
