Note: He was about 5 months old when he and his family came to the United States - see notes for his father. Edward married Ann Hedges of England, probably about 1870 judging by the yob of his first child Nellie. A family tree on the Internet gives their year of marriage as 1869, which plays with the birth of their child. Following the death of Ann, he married Jane Kimball and had 4 children. There is a birth record for Edward Hanslip born Apr-Jun 1838 (name of parents not noted) Goole, Yorkshire, England. In the 1870 census of Blairstown, Benton Co. Iowa, he and his first wife Anna lived adjacent to his sister Emma (Hanslip) Wise. This Wise family is who his sister Mary Ann lived with at the time of the 1860 census (see her notes). This was Emma (Hanslip) Wise, sister to Marry Ann and Edward. His marker in the Osage City Cemetery has his name as Edward W H Hanslip (no marker photo provided at FindAGrave).
