Note: N33420 A Patrick V. Willis patented land, hundreds of acres, near Sarpeta, LA, in the period 1852-1861, which you can see by going to the Government Land Office, and doing a search on Louisiana, Willis, Patrick. This land was at the time in Bossier Parish, and there is also a marriage of a Patrick V. Willis to a Mary Jane Byrd, in 1854, in the Bossier marriage records. I believe this Patrick V. Willis is the same as Patrick Vardell Willis. My relation John E. Hodges had a plantation a few miles from Patrick V. Willis's land. In the 1880 Census, John E. Hodges is living with a sister M. P. Willis, age 33, and a nephew R. L. Willis, age 10. So presumably M.P. Hodges, born about 1847, married a Mr. Willis. Patrick Vardell Willis had a daughter born in Rapides Parish LA, in 1849 (when mother Keziah was 16). If he also had a son born about 1850, that would have been a candidate for the Mr. Willis who married M.P.Hodges - this is of course just a speculation to be tested. - Sandy Hodges sandy.hodges@@gmail.com in the 1870 census in mississippi, columbia county, arkansas
