a. Note:   N501 He was a soldier in the War of 1812. He filled successfully the offices of justice of the peace, sheriff, supervisor, canal superintendent, member of the Legislature, judge of the County Court and Representative to Congress. US Congressman, represented Montgomery district, (22nd Congress 1831-33). Soon after his term in Congress, Judge Soule removed to Onondaga County and settled on the farm where he died. In 1836 he was elected to the Assembly from this county and served as a Member of the New York State Assembly (1837). Lived in Clay, NY and is buried there at Pine Plains Cemetery.
