Note: N33230 Joseph's whereabouts from 1900-1917 are unknown, but he enlisted in the U.S. Army, June 5, 1917 in Roswell, New Mexico. He stated that he was of medium build, blue eyes, and brown hair. He served as PFC during WWI. His middle initial is clearly a F. He is found on the 1920 Federal Census as living in Longview, Hall County, Texas. He listed his age as 24 and just recently married. His wife's name was Gladys, age 19, and she stated that she was born in Texas as well as her parents. Both she and Joseph stated that they could read and write. On the Census, Joseph's middle initial appears to be L, and on the 1930 Census, it appears to be a T. He and his wife were renting and he was an automobile mechanic. His brother, Thomas, age 20, also lived with him in 1920. He is next found on the 1930 Federal Census as living in Orange Co., California. This Census indicated he was still a mechanic, and he was still renting his home. He stated on this Census he was a veteran of WWI. His wife, Gladys was working as waitress in a cafeteria. Next door to him was a man named Robert J. Pritchard, age 27 who stated he was born in Arizona. Believe this was his younger brother, who was probably still living with their mother in 1920.
