Title: Social Security Death Index (SSDI)
Text: The Social Security Death Index is generated from the U.S. Social Security Administrations Death Master File. It contains the records of deceased persons who possessed Social Security numbers and whose death had been reported to the SSA. Often, I find the death year in this Index to be off by a year; also regarding place of death -- if I do not know place of death, I enter the "last known address" in this Index, which may or may not be correct.
