 Died- At his residence in Brunswick County, Thursday 16th instant, Moses McKeithan, aged 82 years, 11 months and 4 days. He has left many relatives and friends to mourn their loss. He has been a pious member and devoted Christian of the Methodist Episcopal Church for many years.
 He on earth is now no more
 His soul in heaven rests,
 With all the redeemed for ever more,
 And eternally blessed.

 Know ye all men by these presents that I, Moses McKeithen,Sr. of state and county aforesaid do hereby authorize and appoint Alexander D. McKeithan, my son, to hold in trust my negro woman Rachel of about 60 years, under the following conditions. viz--that the said Rachel remain with me during my life and under my service during my illness--that at my decease to remain with my youngest sons Henry and Frederick, J. and to be subject to no service that may hinder her from rendering service to her aged mother during her lifetime then to remain with the said Henry and Frederick J. McKeithan during her life and not to be subject to sale in any case whatsoever but to remain in the protection of the said Alexander D. McKeithan and not to be allowed by him the said A.D. McKeithan to be subject to any servitude in any manner further than may be necessary for her support, and that the said A.D. McKeithan do not allow her the said Rachel to become a county charge.
 In testimony whereof I, the said Moses McKeithan, Sen.set my hand and seal June 7, 1856.
