a. Note:   l and Nancy Bolling took in a destitute child named Lorenzo Dow Worrell, the son of Wesley J. Worrell b 1811 in NC who died, leaving his family in dire straits. Lorenzo Dow took the Bolling name, married Alice Coker and had children. Lorenzo Dow Bolling is buried in the Harris Cemetery in Bethlehem, Perry Co., AL. His children also used the Bolling name, but they are biologically Worrells. They are Wesley Jackson, Samuel Blueford and Peggy Bolling Lavendar, she said.) From Melba Dingler 6/5/2008 to Joyce Poole: That is correct. Samuel Milton Bolling and wife Nancy Dobynes took in Lorenzo Dow Worrell aka Bolling. He kept the Bolling name, though no records of a formal adoption were ever found. He was 10 yrs old on 1880 census with Samuel Milton. [When] Both Worrell parents died, they had several children, and the children went to live with varied neighbors in the area. I don't know what year between 1870-1880 that the parents died. One of them Gina L. Worrell is on the 1880 census with my great great grandparents Osburn. She was older (I think 18) and is not on 1890 census with them. (Melba learned the info about the Worrell parents from a descendant in Mobile, AL of Lorenzo Dow Worrell. Lorenzo had passed down the Bolling surname to his descendants.)] [This is Nanette Worrell Serra's line - she is through this Worrell family and is also from a daughter of the Nathan T. Edwards family.]
