Note: Edith was a quiet, shy girl. After high-school she became a secretary, but suffered a nervous breakdown in her 20's. After that, and until they died, she continued to live with her parents on Voorhees Avenue in Buffalo. She did not work again until her father passed away; at that time, with some family assistance, she took over the operation of her father's news and tobacco stand in a downtown bank lobby. Late in life, and after her mother passed away, Edith began to fail mentally. After a period of living on her own, she was finally placed in the care of 'The Brothers of Mercy', a nursing-care home in the Clarence-Harris Hill area. She spent her last days there. The family home at 201 Voorhees Avenue, Buffalo, which had been willed to Edith, was sold on 10 March 1970.
