Companies D, E, H, K, L, and M were entirely men from Erie County. Though several Erie County men rose to a lieutenant's rank in this regiment (Peter Kline, Frank Lee, Martin Clark, Jas M Sturgeon, Henry G Lansing, Lewis Haas, Henry Hathaway, Hobart M Walker, Frank E Lyman), only Buffalo alderman Rodney M Taylor, 21st NY veteran Frank Myers, Andrew T Pierson, and Wm H Ashford were captains from Erie County. 1865 Buffalo City Directory (p203): "Lieut.
