  "Bartholomew Davis was appointed administrator in October 1834 of the estate of Alexander Shannon, deceased. It is stated that the next of kin to the deceased is his father who is extremely infirm both in mind and body because of his advanced age. Bartholomew filed a bond of $600. An inventory of Alexander�s personal property is here entered and includes a mantle clock, 21 pounds of woolen yarn and the usual household and farm articles of that time.   Bartholomew was born Feb 11, 1792 in New Jersey and married Rachel Maxwell born May 17, 1792 in Kentucky. They married in Preble co, Ohio on Sep 26, 1813. The farm was near Billingsville. They had 12 children of whom these are known: John, Israel, Joseph, Edgil, Elizabeth, Mahala, Lewis and James. Bartholomew died Aug 24, 1848 and will probated Oct 7. Rachel died Sep 17, 1859. They are buried in the New Hope cemetery, Roseburg. It across the road from the Davis farm and is listed as a Quaker cemetery.
