History of Wayne County, OH 1910, Vol 1-6, F.F. Bowen & Co., Indianapolis IN, page 1077 has history of Thomas H. Litsinger, son of Mary Ann and Darius Litsinger. "THOMAS H. LITSINGER - 1850 Census, Wayne Co, OH, Franklin Twp, Film 444732, Page 31.: Darias Litsinger (45), Mary A (41), Thomas (15), Joseph (14), Charles (11), Richard (9), Susan (4), and Mary E (8/12). Birthplace of Darius was Maryland, of Mary Ann it was PA, for oldest child, Thomas, was Maryland. All other children show Ohio as birthplace. 1860 Census, Wayne Co., Franklin Twp, Ohio. Lists Darius Litsinger, age 55, born MD; Mary, age 51, born PA; Richard 19, born OH, Susan, age 14; Mary, age 11; Elizabeth Bucher, age ?? maybe 42; and Joseph, age 36. An Elizabeth and John are living with Andrew Butler and Ann (Bucher) a few dwellings away. This census is hard to read. Info from Walter Scott : paper says "Great Grandmother Litsinger was Mary Ann Bucher. Her father was Christ Bucher. They came from Maryland in 1834, and settled in Wayne County, Ohio, south of Mroeland. The P.O. was Shreve, Ohio. It should be said, also , that her mother was blind and lived the last of her 98 years with Mary Ann. Mary Ann married Darius Litsinger and they had 9 children: The oldest son, born before 1834, died while his father was on the trip to Ohio to find the new home. Thomas Hare, born August 27, 1834, while his father was on the trip to Ohio. Richard, a hump back, taught music and school. Joseph, married Jane Jordan: children Mary and Schuler. Joseph died and Jane married a Mohn. Charles, died of dysantery andd homesickness at Vicksburg during Civil War. Susan, born 1846, married Mart Scott: children - Charlie, Will Della. Ellen, married John Weiker. Died at 19 or 20 years of age under undetermined circumstances. Daughter , Clara, brought up by her Grandparents, the Litsingers. Matilda, died young, as well as one other.
