As of Uncle Tommy (Tommy Milton Bucher) Thomas O. built "Boxing Board House" made of 1 x 12 and 2 x 4 boards covered with tar paper. Made sod barn. T.O. worked in Cheyenne at the railroad shop and road home on horse back on weekends before marriage. After marriage, he and grandma went to Greeley and worked in the beets. T. O. homesteaded at Keota in 1908, came out in 1907. He made 4 trips to Webb City in covered wagon. It took 40 days. Buchers went from Iowa, Misouri and Arkansas. Conleys homesteaded at Keota about 1909. From pamphlet from the mortuary for Thomas O. Bucher's funeral: Thomas O. Bucher, 76, of 727 17th Stl., (Greeley, CO.) died Monday, January 2, 1961 at the Weld County Nursing Home. He homesteaded south of Keota in 1908 and lived in that community until moving to Greeley in 1959. Mr. Bucher was born June 2, 1994, at Gravity, Iowa. He and the former Sadie Conley were married November 26, 1913, in Greeley. They moved to the town of Keota in 1919 and Mr. Bucher was custodian of the school for 31 years. He also was engaged in carpentry work. He was a member of the First Christian Churchof New Raymer. Besides his wife, Mr. Bucher is survived by four children, Thomas M. of Keota, L.D. Bucher of Newton, Kansas, Mrs Zella Joyce of Lramie, Wyoming., and Ortis Bucher of Sidney, Neb., 15 grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Maude Buchannan of Lenox, Iowa, Mrs Eva Jewel, Mrs Opha Edwards and Mrs. Lucy Miller, all of Webb City, Mo. from Adamson Memorial Chapel, in charge of Rev Gertrude M. Horn. Pallbearers were: Oscar Olsen, William Benner, George Owens, Harry Benner, James Hickman, William Rohn. 1910 Census, Grover Precinct 31, Weld, Colorado. Lists Thomas O. as single, 26 yrs old, worked for the Rail Road. 1930 Census, Weld, Keota, lists Thomas, Sadie and children.
