Notes
a. Note:   Bennie Kosky lived with his family in Montreal, Canada, but was the first to move out. He went to the Bronx, NY, where he met and lived with the Fox family. He got a job in the fur business, perhaps taking after his maternal grandfather, Morris Grower. When Bennie's father Kalman followed him south to the Bronx in 1923, Bennie moved back into an apartment with him. The rest of the family soon followed. In the winter of 1926, Bennie was ice skating in Central Park and fell through the ice. He didn't get out of his cold, wet clothing. He returned to his family apartment in Brooklyn, where he caught pneumonia. In 1926, of course, there was little available treatment for pneumonia. The doctor said if Bennie made it past seven days, he would survive. Bennie died within the seven days. He was 21 and a 1/2 years old. -Recollections of Freda Muriel Kosky 12/29/2004
