The medal ribbon is, dark blue (British Forces), red (Commonwealth Forces) while the orange stripes represent the sun. The medal was issued un-named and differs from other campaign stars by the inscription "The Burma Star". It is possible to find this medal with the "Pacific Clasp" representing entitlement to that medal. The 1939-1945 Star This medal was awarded for 6 months service overseas between September 1939 and August 1945. It could also be issued where service was curtailed through injury, death or capture. The dark blue, red and light blue of the medal ribbon represents the Royal Navy, Army and the Royal Air Force. The medal was issued un-named and differs from other campaign stars by the inscription "The 1939-45 Star". It is possible to find this medal with the "Battle of Britain Clasp" awarded to aircrew, however this is scarce. The 1939-1945 Defense Medal This medal was awarded for 6 months service in threatened overseas territories or for 3 years service at home. Many units such as Home Guard, Civil Defence, National Fire Service qualified for the medal. The medal ribbon is, green with stripes of black (representing the blackout) and a single stripe of orange The medal was generally issued un-named and no bars were issued. The Faithful Service Medal The War Medal This medal was awarded to all full time armed forces personnel provided they had served for 28 days at least, between September 1939 and September 1945. A limited number of civilians also qualified. The medal was generally issued un-named and no bars were issued, although an oak leaf was issued for mention in despatches.
