Notes

Note:   John Michael Owen, son of Owen Michael, is the 2nd generation to live at the Llwyn Coed family farm. There is reference of him in a local history book from the 1870's (Provided by Eirwyn Williams letter dated 7-26-07).
Before November 1822, John Michael Owen had taken some lambs from the Llwyn Coed farm to the village of Llanllechid, some 18 miles, to sell them to the "drovers" as they were called. The drovers would buy sheep and cattle and walk them all the way to England to be fattened. John called at a farm for a meal and there were 15 children living there. After walking home he thought that one of the daughters was a good worker, very pretty, and would make a good wife. So he walked all the way back and asked her to marry him. The story appears to be true as the 1841-Census shows that his wife, Gwen, was born in the parish of Llanllechild. They were married for many years and they had 10 children.
