a. Note:   Michael Owen was an accomplished & prominent person within the parish of Cwm-Y-Glo. He was an elder in the chapel as well as being a parish councilor and on the Board of Guardians in the village.
  In the 1850's Michael Owen at 18 years of age came to the USA for the California Gold Rush. He went back to Wales in the 1860's and returned with Gold. The family was well off in the 1880-90's and at one time he had 3 houses at Cwm-Y-Glo and 6 in Llanberis (source: Eirwyn Williams written family letter dated 7-26-07).
  Transcription from the Last Will & Testament for Michael Owen probate file:
 MICHAEL OWEN of LlwynCoed, CwmYGlo, in the parish of Llanrug, Caernarvon County, Quarryman & Farmer bequeath all the real & personal estate at the time of my decease unto my wife Jane Owen, the sole executor of my last Will on this 5th day of December 1892. Witnesses: Thomas J. Teynon- Minister of the Gospel CwmYGlo and John William Williams- Quarryman Tanyrhiw Fachwen Llanddeiniolen.
  It was said that Michael Owen's funeral in 1893 was the largest ever seen in Cwm-Y-Glo as so many people turned up.
