Note: o. 1684, at Abington (Pa.) Friends Meeting, as his second wife, Hannah Hodgkins. John Somers and Hannah Hodgkins were both members of Abington Friends Meeting. His will was dated January 8, 1720/21, and was affirmed January 14, 1739, at Great Egg Harbour Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey. Executor was his son, Richard Somers and the witnesses were Peter White, Jonathan Addoms and Thomas Green. The will of Hannah (Hodgkins) Somers was dated October 12, 1737, and affirmed February 24, 1737/38, at Great Egg Harbour Township. (N. J. Archives, vol. 30, pp 447, 448). John Somers was in Great Egg Harbour Township by the year 1693, as at that time he was granted a license to "keep a Ferry over Great Egg Harbour for men, hors and Kattle". The birth dates of three of the children of John and Hannah Somers appear in the records of Abington Monthly Meeting. Sons-Richard, executor, and to have the home land, excepting 400 acres on the east side of the same, upon condition that he pays £10 per annum to his mother during her life; James, 350 acres on the north-east side of Mulberry Point, where he now lives; Samuel and Job, equally, 800 acres on the northwest side of Patcons Creek; Isaac, 400 acres at Gilbort's Pon, over to the head of the mill creek; Edmond, 350 acres on the southwest side of his brother James, Sons Samuel, Job, Isaac and Edmond to pay 10 shillings per annum to their sister, Bridget, after the decease of their mother.
