  Rev. Isaac Stone, born in Hoosick, N.Y., 28 Mar. 1797, went with his parents about 1806 to Farnham, Province of Quebec, Canada; but in 1813 returned to Hoosick where he learned the trade of blacksmith and had his health ruined by an accident. After brief theological study, in 1821 he became a Methodist circuit preacher and for nearly thirty years labored in central and western New York State, serving at Herkimer, Westmoreland, Canajoharie, Otsego, Black River, Stockbridge, Utica, Rome, Verona, Lowville, Oswego, Fulton, Weedsport, Potsdam, Watertown and Jofdan, all in New York. He was a zealous preacher of the emotional order and labored until worn down by consumption to his death at Jordan, N.Y., 10 Sept. 1850.
 He married first, in Burlington, N.Y., 1 June 1819, his cousin Polly Aylesworth, born there 26 mar. 1801, daughter of Elhanan and Mary (Harrington) Aylesworth; she had three children and died in Verona, N.Y., 13 Feb. 1831.
 He married secondly, about 1833, Mercy Chittenden Hand, born in Verona, N.Y., 12 Mar. 1810, died near Jacksonville, N.Y., 4 June 1842; she had two children.
 He married thirdly, about 1844, Rachel (or Rebecca) Clough (or Clow), born 29 Aug. 1814, who long survived him, no children by this marriage.
 Children by first marriage:
 i. Duenna, b. in Fairfield, N.Y., 1 May 1823; was a school teacher and d. in Hartwick, N.Y., 24 July 1872, unmarried.
 ii. Elhanan, b. in Middlefield, N.Y., 9 Aug. 1826. iii. Isaac Aylesworth, b. in Verona, N.Y., 6 Feb. 1831 Children by second marriage, born in New York State:
 i. Mary Hand, b. 6 Jan. 1835; d. 12 Mar. 1840 ii. George Leverett, b. 16 Aug. 1837; d. 31 mar. 1840
