Became citizen 26 Sep 1924. Giovanni age 37. Working as laborer at Duponts at time. With brother, Davide, sent $ to family of Dionisio who had returned to Italy. Giovanni's nickname, known to all was "Joe Green." Legend has it that it was given to him because of his pugilistic abilities. According to one source, the name Joe Green was likely a misnomer for that of the name "Joe Grim." Joe Grim (aka "The India Rubber Baby") was a boxer whose home base was Phildelphia. He was born March 14, 1881 and died August 19, 1939 in the State Hospital at Byberry, Pennsylvania. While he was almost "unknockoutable," he was knocked down more times than any other fighter in history, according to the record book.
