Notes
a. Note:   Lev R Collins vs Paralee Collins. Married July 18, 1910. Separated February 1913. Filed for divorce Apr 26, 1913. Lev states that Paralee (former wife of Lee Collins) ran off to Arkansas for 2 weeks with Isaac Collins adn stayed 2 months and lived with Lee part of the time. Witness: Charley Wood, WR Ellis, and WJ Kelly Story told by Vernon Murrell. Post Office Postmasters and their Communities, Horton section. Vernon Murrell, who grew up in the Cordz community and later moved to Oklahoma, gave some interesting thoughts about Horton and a story told him by his grandfather. Lady Godiva of Horton. "She rode a horse through the town in the nude. He knew her. She was kind of a loose woman, naturally. I remember her daughter. The one that rode the horse was named Paralee. The vigilantes whipped her - the good guys. Grandpa said them good guys probably visited her once in a while, and I imagine they did. I can't remember her last name. Her daughter was a blind woman. She was old when I remember her. Janie was the daughter's name. That was while the town of Horton was still operating. I bleive this story is talking about Parlee Collins and Blind Janie Collins. Janie was Parlee's sister - in-law, not daughter. Courtcase: Gazette July 8, 1909 The Collins tribe residing along the wester border of Howell County in the vicinity of Siloam Springs, is always represented in circuit court here. At the July term Lee Collins will tell the court his matrimonial troubleswith Paralee Collins. His complaint filed in the circuit clerk's office is very brief. He says his wife would not work, that she neglected their children, showed no affection for them, and in March of last year, without the least cause or excuse left him, declaring that she would no longer share his bed and board. Green & Green are the attorneys for Collins. Follow up: Because a child was born to his wife eighteen months after he left her, Lee Collins sued Paralee Collins for a divorce. He name was Collins before he married her, he testified, but they were not related. Both were born in the Collins settlement in the western part of Howell county. He got his divorce.
