Gazette, November 25, 1926 TWO WOMEN HAVE A FIGHT Mrs. Nora Collins and Mrs. Vena Ellison live in the same house on West First Street. They were having trouble over the house rent and Saturday night it came to a show down. Mrs. Collins is said to have picked up a stick of stove wood and beat up her neighbor. Then the real fight started and the women pulled hair and clawed one another until they became tired. The arrival of an officer stopped hostilities. Mrs. Ellison then filed a complaint against Mrs. Collins for assault. ***************** West Plains Daily Quill, Mar 22, 1950 Mrs John Ellison Dies Yesterday at Her Home Here Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock in the Evergreen Church for Mrs Vena Ellison, 69, who died Tuesday after a prolonged illness. Rev Elmer Endicott will conduct the services and burial is to be in the Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of the Robertson Funeral Home. Born at Salem, Mo Mrs Ellison was born at Salem, Mo, June 14, 1880, the daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Aaron Hunter. She was the wife of John Ellison. Surviving relatives include two sons, Edmond of West Plains; Lester of New York City; one daughter, Mrs Carl Ford of West Plains, 12 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs Alice Hines, Joplin, Mo.; three brothers, WR Hunter, West Plains; Ernest Hunter, Locust Grove, Okla.; Jim Hunter, Newburg, Mo.
