Note: West Plains Daily Quill, Monday, November 12, 1973 Al Morgan Funeral Wednesday Funeral services for Alfred James (Al) Morgan, 54, West Plains, will be held Wednesday at 2 pm in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains, with the Rev Frank Hall officiating. Mr Morgan died at 3:10 am today in West Plains Memorial Hospital. He was born at Chicago, Ill, Oct 28, 1919, the son of Clarence Morgan of West Plains and the late Clara Huff Morgan. On June 28, 1941, he was married in Howell County to Sybil Johnson who preceded him in death. On Mar 28, 1972 he was married in West Plains to Lorene McKinney. Mr Morgan was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the General Baptist Church at West Plains. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a T4 in Company A of the 781st Tank Battalion of the US Army. He was a veteran of the European theater of war where he was awarded three bronze stars and was awarded the purple heart for wounds received in action. Preceding him in death is his mother, one son, one daughter, and three brothers. Survivors include his wife, Mrs Lorene Morgan of the home; three sons and two daughters, Mary Henley, Hardy, Ark; Linda Croney, Brandsville, Mo; Sydney Morgan, Dennis Morgan, Randy Morgan, all of Republic, Mo; his father, Clarence Morgan, West Plains; seven step children, Edward McKinney, Paul McKinney, Tommy McKinney, all of West Plains; Bobby McKinney, Caulfield, Mo; Darlene Farr, Springfield, Mo; Sandra Kelly, Okinawa; Linda King, Springfield, Mo; 18 grandchildren; five brothers and two sisters, Fred Morgan, Cazenovia, Ill; Roy Morgan, Washburn, Ill; Junior Morgan, Washington, Ill; Jolly Morgan, Liberty, Mo; Virgil Morgan, Kansas City, Mo; Ruby Brazeal and Ellen Hall, both of West Plains, MO. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 pm tomorrow evening in the Rose Chapel, Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery under the direction of Robertson-Drago Funeral Home, West Plains.
