W. Collins Pneumonia, with which he was stricken Sunday, following several days of influenza, proved fatal to James Western Collins, 69, who died yesterday morning at 11:30 o�clock in his home at Siloam Springs. Mr. Collins, who was born June 19, 1874, was a native of Howell county, and had spent practically his entire life in the Siloam Springs district. Besides his widow, Lucinda Collins, he is survived by eight sons and daughters, who are Elmer S. Collins of West Plains, Emmert Collins of Los Angeles, Calif., Ray Collins of the US Coast Guard in Boston, Mrs. Gracie Elliot of Houston, Mo., Mrs. Dovey Collins, Mrs. Kate Collins, Mrs. Della Collins and Mrs. Georgia Collins, all of Siloam Springs. There also are 33 grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Margaret Collins, and Mrs. Emma Collins of Siloam Springs, Mrs. Maud Hallett, whose present whereabouts is unknown to the family here. Mrs. Mary Stubbs of Joplin, and two brothers, Henry Collins of Siloam Springs, and Lewis Collins of the state of Washington. The daughter from Houston arrived here Sunday, the son from Los Angeles is on his way here. The son from Boston has been notified, and also is expected to be here for the funeral. Funeral arrangements, which are in charge of the Paige Robertsons of the Robertson funeral home here, are incomplete as yet, but the service probably will be held Thursday in a church at Siloam Springs. Burial also will be at Siloam Springs. *********** From the West Plains Journal, 1944 James Western Collins Born June 19th sixty nine years ago in Howell County, Missouri, and died at 11:30 am January 24th at this home in Siloam Springs, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Luceanda Collins, a daughter, Dovey Collins, of Siloam Springs, a daughter, Mrs Kate Collins, and a son Elmer Collins of West Plains, a daughter, Mrs Della Collins of Siloam Springs, a son Emmett Collins of Los Angelos, a son Ray Collins, who is with the Coast Guard in Boston, Mass, and who arrived in West Plains Wednesday night, a daughter, Mrs Grace Elliott, of Houston, Missouri, thirty-three grandchildren, a sister, Mrs Margaret Collins of Willow Springs, a sister, Mrs Maude Hallett, address unknown, a sister, Mrs Anna Collins of Siloam Springs, a brother, Henry Collins of Siloam Springs, a brother Lewis Collins of the state of Washington, and a sister, Mrs Mary Stubbs of Joplin, Missouri. Mr Collins was stricken with influenza of January 19th and died of pnuemonia three days later. He spent his entire life in and near Siloam Springs. Funeral services were held January 27th at the Siloam Church and interment was in the Siloam Springs Cemetery. The Robertson funeral home was in charge.
