Davis R., III and Nell (Whitman) Gurley of Waco, Tex.; m. 1938 John Gordon (Jack) Beasley, Jr. (b. 15 Nov. 1916, d. 1967 Crockett,Tex.), son of John G. and Genevieve (Eichelberger) Beasley of Crockett, Tex.; 1 c. Jack Beasley gradauted from Schreiner Institute, TheUniversity of Texas, and Baylor Law School. He served as a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy during World War II, and afterwards practiced law and was president of the Davy Crockett Savings and Loan in Crockett, Tex.. He also was a partner owner of Crockett Insurance Service. His civic activities were numerous. He served terms as an officer in the National Assurance Association of America, The Federal Savings and Loan League, was president of the Crockett Rotary Club, The Elks Lodge, and Spring Creek Country Club. He served two terms as Mayor of the city of Crockett. He died of a heart attack at age 50, and was buried in Crockett Cemetery. Mrs. Beasley graduated from Baylor University and after marriage was a founding member of the Houston County Library Board and the Women's Auxiliary of the Crockett Hospital. She moved to Houston after her husband's death, and died there in 1979, but was buried in the Crockett cemetery. Issue A.
