Smith died the 22nd of July 1864 in Natchez, Miss., from wounds in battle near Vidalia, La. Willie M. Smith died 12th Sept. 1867 of yellow fever. Huntsville, Texas Elizabeth Williamson Smith died 14th Oct. 1867 of typhoid fever. Huntsville,Tx. John McCaw Smith died 4th August 1896 of fever. Crockett, Texas Edward Baker Smith died 21st Dec. 1899, of consumption. Crockett, Texas Virginia Smith Collins died in Crockett, Texas Unity Smith Chamberlain died in Crockett, Texas William Edwards Beasley died August 13th 1877. Hugh Lawson Beasley died April 21st 1911 at 8 o'clock a.m. age 26 years, 11 months. Harold Andrew Beasley diied July 9, 1913, at 7:30 p.m. age 34 yrs., 10 months. Dr. S. T. Beasley died Dec. 3, 1916. Age 76 Mary Kate Smith Beasley, wife of S.T. Beasley, died Sept. 15, 1938 Bessie Kate Beasley Millar, wife of John C. Millar, died february 21, 1957 John Gordon Beasley died April, 1959. MISC. Smith died at the residence of his son-in-law, B.F. Chamberlain, after an illness of several weeks. Deceased was an old and highly respected citizen, widely known throughout eastern Texas before and since the War. He was born in South Carolina in 1811 and moved thence to Mississippi and there married Miss Elizabeth Moseley in 1840. He left Mississippi and came to Texas in 1857 and engaged in the mercanttile and planting business. He became largely interested in these lines before and during the War and accumulated a large fortune which was swept away by the fortunes of War. He came to Houston County in 1875 and has resided here ever since. He leaves three daughters and one son. He has been a consistent church member since 1827, having at that time joined the Methodist Church.
