Notes
a. Note:   [Ulrich.FTW] Rick Huff, July3, 1998: "I received the military pension records for John H. Ulrich. It states he was born in "Buffalo City" , October 6,1845. It also gives the exact date of death and has a death certificate for both he and his wife. Also states that his father was John, who was born in Germany. His mother was Margaret Hofner, born in France. Some very interesting pension records. Gave all of the locations where John H. was residing after the war. he enlisted and was mustered in in Rochester, NY. These are the dates and locations of residence: Buffalo City 1865-1867; Crawford Co., PA, 1867-1868, Colbrook, OH., 1868-1883, N. Clarendon, Pa., 1883-1889, then to OK. Another interesting item: Frederick, John's brother was residing in Erie County as late as 1909. he swore an affidavit on behalf of Theresa Williams Ulrich so she could collect her soldier's pension. It was notarized in Akron, NY. Akron is in Erie County, but it is another township northeast of Alden. Need to get service record: have index card showing Pvt. Co.C 8th NY Cav. Service record can be obtained Residences: attempt to develop in Ashtabula Co., Ohio ( married there 1866) Ohio area was one of the first to be settled north of the Mason/Dixon line and west of the 13 original colonies. Warren Co. PA info could be hearsay. Death: 1909 - no record checked because proof came another way. Might be an obit. In Okla. by 1889 because 1890 Territorial Count shows 1 year residence Moved family after 1882 to Clarendon Pa.- census. Still doing work for the city of Colebrook, Ohio, 1882, by records. After Penn. moved to OK. John Henry did photography. When and where he picked it up is unknown. By the time he got to Oklahoma he used photography as a profession. 1900 Census establishes residence in Oklahoma and many other details. This census indicates John's place of birth to be Germany. Date given: Oct. 1845. He is living in the Frisco township. Others living with John: John Ramey - SE - 18, born Kansas Charles Cumming,BO - 26, born in Missouri 1880 Ohio census says occupation is farmer. Sarah Phoebe Williams is living next door in the 1880 Ohio census. She is 63. Estate administration papers, September 12, 1917, names death date as June 25, 1909, describes homestead land in Oklahoma as follows: A quarter section of land containing about one hundred and sixty acres worth, approximately ten thousand dollars, the same being described as follows, to wit: The North half of the Southesast Quarter and Lots 1, 2, and 6 in Section 12 and Lot 7 in Section 13, all in Township 12, North of Range 6 W.I.M. in Canadian County, Oklahoma.
