Notes
a. Note:   H385
Note:   John would have been 6 years old at the time of the 1870 census. However, he is not listed in the census. Instead a 6 year old boy named Charles is listed in the 1870 census. This was probably an error on the part of the census taker, as John is listed in the 1880 census. In 1900 he is 35 years old and says he has been married for 10 years. He is a cattle dealer. He owns his home but it is mortgaged. They live on South Silver St. in Belleville, Illinois. His wife died in 1907. In 1910 he is 45 years old and has been married to his second wife for two years. His home is free of its mortgage and still works as a cattle trader. In 1920 he is 53 years old. The family has moved to South 11th St. and he owns a stock yard. In 1930 he is 65 years old. A copy of his obit is included in the family history file.
