Note:   He is 58 in 1930 and states that he was 21 when he got married. He owns his farm in Pulaski County, Illinois, but does not have a radio. His brother Mike now lives with him and helps on the farm. Mike has never married and is 68 in 1930. Two children still live at home. He is 49 in 1920 and states that he does not know where his parents were born. He owns his farm. Five children are living at home. He is 38 in 1910 and says he has been married for 18 years. He also says his parents were from Illinois. He states that he is renting his farm which disagrees with the 1900 census. In 1900 He is 29 and says he had been married for 8 years. He owns his farm and it is free of any mortgage. They also have a servant girl to help with the house work. He states here that his parents were from Vermont. The "History of Pulaski County, Illinois", stated that William came from Jasper County, Illinois. A search of the 1880 census revealed that he had been adopted by Joseph Claxton and his wife. Joseph was a farmer who stated he was born in Kentucky. The 1880 census also states that William was born in Kentucky and that his mother was from Kentucky. It is not clear where William's father was born. Their name is spelled Hannon in the census records. William left everything he had to his wife Caroline. His will stated: "Since all of my children are able to make a living and take care of themselves, I bequeath ....... everything I have to her."
