Note:   The legal papers for Marthia Cardhia Walker are used as sources in the master source material. They trace a complex legal case involving the guradianship of Charles Fredrick Ulrich and Clifford Ulrich. They becamed guardians of the estate and then were reassigned to Martha after Zimmerman left. She had no husband for awhile and when she married Hitchins there were a sum of $60 per month support for the children and $4000 worth of land. The monies were assigned to the two boys as was the $60 per month. This was part of the pension settlement for Civil War Service Pension of FKU as well. All funds went to the two boys, then minors. Martha was apparently protecting the money for the children of FKU. She had to prove that they were indeed her children, the children of FKU and that he was a Civil War vet. Copies of these legal papers are in my possession, Fredrich Louis Ulrich. The legal papers for Martha Cardhia Walker in the source material also point to a complex legal battle. Martha as it appears from the papers gave up guardianship of her two sons, Charles Frederick and Clifford, to the state until the monies from the Friedrich Karl Ulrich's estate. She was abandoned and remarried before the case was setteld. She was, apparently, concerned that the monies be used directly for the two boys. After the case was settled, she regained guardianship of the two sons of Friedrich Karl Ulrich. The copies of these legal papers for this case are in my possession. They comprise 12 pages of printed matierial and signatures.
