Note:   Clifford enlisted in the Army, 1902-1906. He served in the Coast Artillery in the State of Washington. Afterwards he worked as a Street Car Railway conductor unjtil meeting and marrying Arra Crouch. (Marriage Certificate, Vandalia, Ill.) St. Louis City Directory lists him as conductor and living at 4649 Ferdinand Ave. He bacame a barber and lived in Sullivan and Greenville, Ill. They moved to California and he continued to work as a barber in Orange Co. Cal. in Santa Ana. He was listed in the 1916 City Diredctory as having a shop on 311 West Fourth St. with his residence at 409 Van Ness Ave. The shop was still in operation in 1973 and the house was removed to make room for the Civic Center. After an illness of several months, he died in Santa Ana and is buried there. source WW Crouch Estate
