Note: Clyde William Wilkerson was born in Van Zandt County Texas where he lived with his family until about 1915-1918. The family moved to Saline County Arkansas. Clyde eventually lived with his own family in Little Rock, Arkansas until about 1968, when he and Lela moved to Winnsboro, Texas. Several Years later they moved to Sherman, Texas to be near Doris and Grant, after which they moved to Cabot, Arkansas where he worked as a ranch hand for rancher "Humpy" Bell. In the late 70's he and Lela moved to Ruston, Louisiana where they lived until the early 80's when they moved to Canton, Texas. He lived in Canton, near where he considered his "ancestral" home to be until his death. In the recollection of his grandson Grant, he never really considered Alabama to be an ancestral place, and generally told more stories about Texas. He also never spoke of the family's life in Saline County, where most of his ancestors are buried.
