a. Note:   Referred to by the family as Big Grandpa, while great grandson Grant A. Simpson was a child he and Nola lived across the street from Clyde and Lela Wilkerson on West 29th Street in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was called Big Grandpa because he was a big man, and to distinguish him from his father, who was smaller in stature. Grant once "helped" Big Grandpa start a lawn mower in their backyard. Obituary: JOHN W. WILKERSON, aged 79, of 3618 West Twenty-ninth Street, a retired farmer and carpenter, died Wednesday at a Little Rock hospital. He was a member of the Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church and the Altoona (Ala.) Masonic Lodge 812. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Nolie Ann Walker Wilkerson; two sons, J.C. Wilkerson and C. W. Wilkerson, both of Little Rock; four daughters, Mrs. Ella Bagby and Mrs. Francis Warner , both of Little Rock, and Mrs. Della Williams and Mrs. Grace Judd, both of San Francisco; four brothers, S.M. Wilkerson and L.M. Wilkerson, both of Little Rock, J. I. Wilkerson of Hensley and C.L. Wilkerson of Bryant; a sister, Mrs. J.C. Derrick of North Little Rock. 14 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Reynolds Memorial Baptist Church by Rev. Guy S. Wilson. Pallbearers will be Kenneth Higgs, Carroll Wilkerson, Bobby Wayne Wilkerson, Cecil Wilkerson, Arvil Wilkerson and Edward Derrick. Burial will be at Salem Cemetery by Griffin- Leggett. August 1958
